Take what you already know and keep building on it. Take stock of what your exercise experience has been over the years, pay attention to how your body is feeling, and work on developing exercises for YOU. Using one weight instead of two forces the body’s core muscles to subconsciously stabilize. It’s important to exercise in a fashion that resembles the way your body functions in real life activities. Here’s an exercise circuit with a single weight completed on both sides of the body.
