The Basics You Need

If you want to start cooking at home more (and taking ownership of your health), you need to have a few essentials. Take a quick look and make sure you have these items:

A Prepping Area: You don’t need a magically remodeled kitchen, just an area that you can navigate successfully. An area for raw meats/fish is nice to have so you’re not sharing the space with your vegetables.

Cutting Board and Knives: Invest in a solid cutting board and some real chef knives. I use a slicing knife and a Santoku knife for literally everything I cook.

A Rinsing Basket: Have a basket handy to rinse vegetables and fruits easily.

Oils/Vinegars/Spices: I have olive oil, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, fresh lemons, sea salt, and pepper within arms reach at all times while cooking. Whether you love cooking with a variety of spices or prefer to keep it simple, make sure your kitchen is always stocked with pantry essentials.

A Cleanup Routine: Clean as you go. Clean when you’re done. We all know that it’s easier to clean up before things get stuck to countertops and pans. Make a habit of cleaning efficiently and don’t look back.
