Top 3 Healthy Foods to Buy In Bulk

By August 28, 2017 2 Comments

We should all have a flow when it comes to our weekly shopping. Fresh vegetables, meats, fish, and eggs should be coming and going pretty quickly. When you’re planning for a period of a few weeks though, there are a few items that make sense to buy in bulk. Here are a few to remember…

Nuts and Seeds: Buying small cartons of almonds or walnuts will get expensive quickly. Compare prices online, at Costco, and at Trader Joes. Buy in bulk for whatever you put in your favorite granola or pair with your salads.

Oil and Vinegar: Nothing worse than realizing you’re out of your go-to olive oil after you’ve already prepped a salad. Stock up on olive, avocado, and coconut oil to avoid the frustration. They sell high quality options in large bottles and cans everywhere. Do the same with your balsamic, apple cider, and other favorite vinegars. These should be in regular kitchen use, so keep them on hand.

Frozen Vegetables: You can turn a bag of frozen vegetables into a snack or meal with very little creativity. Broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and green beans all take 5 minutes to steam, so always have them on hand! Bulk bags are a great bargain at both the local grocery stores and the larger chain wholesale clubs.

Costco and the like have large bags of organic frozen fruits, as well (for cheap). Great for smoothies!

I was stuck in choosing frozen veggies or the organic fruits from Costco! Definitely a 3A/B scenario. We grab the organic blueberries, cherries, and mixed fruit (pineapple, straw, mango) to keep ready for smoothies. Thanks for the note GB!
