Reasons for Soup or Smoothie over Juice

The health and fitness world loves a good “craze” or “fad”.  The latest and greatest promise to get us lean and fit with minimal effort is always calling our names.  Nothing can override principals of truth though!  Here’s the reasons why you want to stick to the whole food…

Fiber and Nutrients:  The skin and pulp of fruits and vegetables contain the majority of the fiber, vitamins, and minerals.  Juicers leave you with a stripped down version of the original.  Smoothies and soups incorporate the whole food.  Don’t waste the opportunity to cash in on your fruits and veggies!

Blood Sugar:  Without the fiber, you have nothing to slow down the breakdown and absorption of sugar.  Fruit and vegetable juices are left with a high glycemic index.  The fiber from real food choices helps slow down the impact, leaving you more satisfied and stable in the following hours.

Faster Prep:  Being able to rinse your ingredients, toss them into the blender, and press a button makes for a pretty easy cleanup.  Smoothies are the easiest, with most of the newer blenders having a heated soup option as well.  Most juicers have several components that require cleaning and extra storage space.  Even if you decide to use the stove top to pre-cook your soups before blending, the clean-up remains simple.
